Prosecutor requests maximum sentence for Spaniard who dismembered boyfriend in Lapa

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has called for a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment for a Spanish citizen accused of murdering and dismembering his Brazilian boyfriend in March, in the Lapa district of Lisbon.

The man is currently on trial for homicide and desecration of a corpse. The prosecution noted that the accused and the victim lived together in Lapa, where their relationship was marked by confrontations, sometimes involving verbal and physical violence.

“According to the indictment, on March 11, 2024, following an argument in their shared residence, the defendant inflicted four stab wounds on the victim with a kitchen knife. These injuries resulted in the victim’s death,” stated a release from the Procurator General’s Office, published in September last year.

Subsequently, “the defendant cut the body at the waist and placed the divided remains into separate bags, which were then disposed of in two dumpsters in Lisbon.”

The victim’s 35-year-old body was discovered on March 12 inside a bag next to a trash bin in the Lapa neighborhood.

According to authorities, the Judicial Police (PJ) was alerted at around 3 a.m. by the Public Security Police (PSP) regarding the discovery of a corpse inside a trash bag. As reported by TVI at the time, the mutilated body of a man was found by Lisbon City Council sanitation workers during rubbish collection.

The upper part of the victim’s body was never recovered.

The investigation was overseen by the Integrated Specialized Section of Domestic Violence in Lisbon (SEIVD) of the Lisbon Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office, with assistance from the PJ.
