More than half a hundred court clerks gathered today at the Campus da Justiça, in Lisbon, to protest against the lack of response to their demands, and expressed the wish for April 25th for their class as well.

Speaking to Lusa, the president of the Judicial Employees’ Union (SFJ), with a red carnation on his chest, said it was particularly significant to lead the strike and sit-in on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the revolution.

António Marçal stressed his expectation that the government will respond to the demands for the inclusion of the procedural recovery supplement, the payment of overtime work and the filling of staff.

“It’s time for April 25 to reach the judiciary and, above all, for there to be an April 25 for the bailiffs. April 25 brought major changes to the dignity of work and the rights of workers, so it’s time, on the 50th anniversary of April 25, that we, the court clerks, also had the right to our April 25,” he said.

He expressed the hope that, “after April 25, on the 26th, the government will have this intention and openness so that the spirit of April can also be realized” in relation to judicial staff.
