“Before the end of 2025, we will still submit the eighth payment request to the European Commission,” stated Fernando Alfaiate in a newsletter from the Recover Portugal Task Force, established to negotiate and monitor the implementation of the PRR.
Next year, the presentation of the final two payment requests is planned.
The same document indicates that the last disbursement should be made by the European Commission in the final days of 2026, “allowing 2027 to still be a year of significant payments to the final beneficiaries.”
Portugal submitted the seventh payment request of the PRR to Brussels today.
With the submission of the milestones and targets of this seventh payment request, the PRR execution rate, scheduled to end in mid-2026, rises to 47%.
The PRR, which is set to be executed by 2026, aims to implement a series of reforms and investments aimed at economic growth recovery.
In addition to repairing the damage caused by COVID-19, this plan intends to support investments and generate employment.
