Francisco César has expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to reinforce the Regional Command with only 20 officers, despite a recognized shortfall of 249 officers in the PSP in the Azores. He stated, “It is incomprehensible how the government decided on such minimal reinforcement given the deficit acknowledged by the Interior Minister herself.”
The opposition deputy criticized this as an “unacceptable discrepancy that weakens public safety and disrespects existing commitments.”
The socialist representative is questioning the government on the measures it plans to adopt “to ensure a substantial reinforcement of the Regional Command of the PSP.”
He seeks clarification on whether new officers will be urgently assigned to the Azores “to prevent the closure of stations and operational constraints, especially at Azorean airports.”
He emphasized that the government “created a legitimate expectation among security forces and the population” and must “not only provide explanations but above all take action.”
