PS condemns the expulsion of Lusa, RDP, and RTP by Guinea-Bissau.

The Portuguese Socialist Party (PS) stated that the actions of the Guinea-Bissau authorities were “unacceptably high-handed” and warranted an “institutional response.” The party acknowledged with satisfaction the measures taken by the Minister of Foreign Affairs concerning this issue.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the expulsion, labeling it “highly reprehensible and unjustifiable,” and announced plans to seek an explanation from the Guinean government.

Socialists emphasized the need to “ensure the reversal of a decision that disrupts bilateral relations, contradicts the objectives of the CPLP, damages Guinea-Bissau’s image within the international community, and does not promote the necessary rapprochement between the European Union and the African Union.”

The government of Guinea-Bissau decided to expel the delegations of the Lusa news agency, RTP, and RDP from the country, immediately suspending their broadcasts and ordering their representatives to leave by Tuesday.

No reasons were provided for this decision.
