“A decent country is one that takes care of those who care for others. This is why these women are our priority, with a national pact to enhance and value the careers of women who care for children, the elderly, and children with disabilities,” stated the PS leader and prime ministerial candidate in a speech in Porto.
Pedro Nuno Santos emphasized that the Socialist Party values women. “The men and women of the PS value women in Portuguese society. Here, the men, in this party, do not feel insecure or challenged when women succeed and secure their role in Portuguese society. Over the last decades, the great achievements of women in Portugal have been under PS governments, not right-wing governments,” he argued.
Numerous party members and supporters gathered at the Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota in Porto for the Socialist Party’s rally, which began with a performance by Olavo Bilac.
From Porto, according to Pedro Nuno Santos, the PS began its journey towards victory in the upcoming early elections on May 18.
