After a pause for Easter, the debates for the upcoming snap legislative elections on May 18 resumed on Monday.
Today, the Secretary-General of the PS, Pedro Nuno Santos, faced off against the Secretary-General of the PCP and representative of the CDU coalition (PCP/PEV), Paulo Raimundo. The PS Secretary-General argued that the communist electoral promises are appealing but impractical, while the PCP leader retorted by accusing the socialists of presenting a “lackluster” program.
Following this, there was a clash between BE Coordinator Mariana Mortágua and Chega President André Ventura. The Bloc leader accused Ventura of employing “tricks” and “racism,” while Chega’s leader accused her of “playing politics,” in a debate that featured disagreement on every topic.
It should be noted that the legislative elections are scheduled for May 18, following the government’s collapse due to a defeated motion of confidence.
The full schedule of debates is available.
