Today in Lisbon, the Socialist Party (PS) unveiled its electoral program, emphasizing the necessity to “reduce taxes through an intelligent, selective fiscal policy that promotes a more balanced income distribution and encourages investment.”
Among its fiscal measures, the PS particularly advocates for “the permanent reinstatement of zero VAT on food, achieved by a continuously monitored basket of essential goods that ensures distribution profit margins do not erode consumer benefits.”
The PS also aims to “apply the reduced VAT rate of 6% to the entire electricity bill for families with a contracted power of up to 6.9 kVA,” with projections indicating that this initiative will benefit “5.3 million consumers, an increase from the previously covered 3.4 million.”
