PS requests a report on professions with rapid wear and two hearings

Lisbon, July 15, 2025 (Lusa) — The Socialist Party (PS) is urging the government to release the report from the working group on high-stress professions and has requested a parliamentary hearing with the responsible secretaries of state to understand the executive’s position and timeline.

In a request from the PS parliamentary group, accessed by Lusa today, it is noted that the topic of high-stress professions has gained “prominence in public debate,” prompting the Socialist administration to establish a working group comprising various public services.

“Through media reports, it was revealed that the social partners had already received a document from the government as part of the working group’s activities,” the document states.

The PS is asking the government to make available the report developed by the working group studying high-stress professions.

The socialists are also requesting a hearing with the Secretary of State for Labor, Adriano Rafael Moreira, and the Secretary of State for Social Security, Susana Filipa Lima, regarding this report.

The PS aims to understand the government’s “intentions, priorities, and timeline for future work on high-stress professions” through these hearings.

“As of July, there is no evidence that this report is completed or known to the social partners, as it is only occasionally mentioned publicly, like the interim report previously presented to the partners, which was discussed recently in a parliamentary debate, but without news of further developments,” it can be read.

The PS assures that it will continue following this issue “with a full sense of responsibility, recognizing the importance and sensitivity of the issue and its implications.”

“It is therefore essential to monitor the work being carried out and to understand, in the absence of a definitive outcome, the existing conclusions of the preliminary report whose existence has been referred to,” they justify.

For the socialists, “this topic must be viewed in a comprehensive and integrated manner, providing coherence to a framework that already exists for some activities but in a scattered and case-specific way.”
