PS wants greater connection between knowledge centers and professional training.

“This is one of the examples of the country I aspire to, that is, a country where a deep relationship is established between research and knowledge centers, training centers, and the social, business, and economic fabric,” stated José Luís Carneiro during a visit to the ATEC training academy in Palmela, in the Setúbal district.

“Only with this articulation and deep cooperation can we ensure a transformation of our economic base, incorporating technology and knowledge into this economic transformation, which can only be done if we are capable of empowering human resources, from those who are part of the daily operations of companies and the economy to intermediate and top leadership in the business fabric,” he added.

The socialist leader, who took a detailed tour of the ATEC training center near the Volkswagen/Autoeuropa automobile factory, also expressed his wish to see the ATEC training model replicated in other regions of the country.

“There are 450 companies that are daily, continuously engaged in the training of young people in various areas of knowledge, applied knowledge, and knowledge that innovates because it is built based on the needs of companies. It is also a subject of knowledge transfer and sharing at a European scale and at local and regional scales,” explained José Luís Carneiro.

The socialist leader further mentioned that, following the PS National Congress, he intends to promote several regional meetings aimed at contributing to the economic transformation necessary for the country.

“After our National Congress, we intend to launch several regional meetings that will form the basis for building programmatic, demonstrable, and feasible solutions based on this relationship between knowledge and the social and business fabric,” he said.

“The national economy can and should be more productive and more competitive internationally. To achieve this goal, we fundamentally need to invest in capacity building, in applied capacity building, and in valuing professional training, which needs to be valued socially and culturally. We must set aside the social prejudices that exist regarding professional training,” emphasized the PS leader at the end of the visit to ATEC.

The ATEC training academy, founded in 2004, is a project conceived and promoted by Volkswagen Autoeuropa, Siemens, Bosch, and the Luso-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the objective of disseminating the latest methodologies and techniques in professional training, utilizing the accumulated knowledge of these companies at the European and global levels.
