“My appeal is a serious one, urging the Prime Minister to swiftly convene the National Civil Protection Commission. The aim is to ensure political coordination and the assumption of political leadership in combating this scourge affecting many of our local communities,” stated José Luís Carneiro to Lusa agency over the phone from the Azorean municipality of Lajes do Pico, where he is currently located.
The PS Secretary-General emphasized that the National Civil Protection Commission “should include everyone who can contribute to restoring effective coordination and, at the same time, mobilize various ministries to provide a sense of security to the populations, particularly those who have been left without living conditions.”
