Two individuals were arrested in the early hours of Monday in the Quinta da Maia area of Coimbra for crimes of resistance and coercion after a Public Security Police (PSP) officer was pushed and bitten on the arm.
In a statement, the Coimbra District Command of PSP noted that the arrest of a woman and a man, aged 43 and 24, respectively, occurred at 2:30 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at 12:15 a.m. following “multiple neighborhood noise complaints” and, “after confirming the facts,” proceeded to “warn the involved parties.”
About two hours later, at 2:30 a.m., the officers “returned to the location” due to “recurring noise” and “new complaints” but were “met with hostility.”
The woman and the man, “after being warned again,” did not comply with the police orders and “exhibited highly aggressive behavior.”
One of the suspects “pushed and bit” one of the officers on the arm, resulting in the officer needing hospital treatment.
