PSP agents save man in cardiac arrest in Lisbon

A team of officers from the 1st Police Division of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command provided aid to a man suffering from respiratory arrest in front of the 4th Police Station — Palácio da Folgosa, in Lisbon, the Public Security Police (PSP) announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command explained that the incident occurred early Wednesday morning, around midnight, when the officers “took decisive action to assist a man displaying signs of a seizure, who subsequently went into cardiorespiratory arrest.”

According to the PSP’s report, the officers inside the station became aware of the situation and immediately rushed to the location. One officer, trained as a Volunteer Firefighter, “promptly initiated Basic Life Support (BLS) maneuvers, while the others mobilized emergency medical resources and secured traffic control.”

Thanks to the swift intervention of these officers, the victim’s vital signs were restored, and he was “subsequently transported to the hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.”

The PSP expressed well wishes for the victim’s recovery and praised the positive outcome of the incident. The commitment and dedication of the involved officers were highlighted, as their actions honor the institution and strengthen public confidence in the Public Security Police.
