The Public Security Police (PSP) released an operational report this Saturday covering the period from August 3 to 9 at the national level. The report indicates that 438 arrests were made, with 180 of them related to road crimes.

According to the statement, of these arrests, 79 were for driving under the influence of alcohol and 101 for driving without a legal license.

A total of 7,529 individual doses of narcotics were seized, and 55 suspects were arrested for drug trafficking. “46 arrests were also made for crimes against property (theft, robbery, and fraud),” the authority reports.

Regarding domestic violence, the PSP recorded 381 occurrences and continues to appeal “for the reporting of all crimes that one becomes aware of, whether as a victim or witness.”

In terms of road safety, the PSP “inspected 12,623 vehicles, registering 4,985 reports for infractions.” Additionally, “41,202 vehicles were controlled by radar, of which 710 were detected speeding,” the statement reads.

During the same period, 1,082 road accidents were recorded, “resulting in 361 injuries (16 serious injuries and 345 minor injuries) and, regrettably, 2 fatalities.”

“The PSP appeals to all drivers to drive safely, adapting their driving to weather conditions and road conditions, and not to adopt behaviors that may diminish their abilities, namely speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol, or that may cause distractions, such as using mobile phones while driving,” the authority concluded.
