PSP arrests eight men who illegally occupied warehouses in Marvila

On April 9, police officers from the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) detained eight men in the Marvila parish of Lisbon due to suspicions of unauthorized entry into a restricted area.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP disclosed that the police were alerted about “a group of men, associated with organizations typically known as Autonomous and Anarchist Movement – Rural and Urban Uprisings, were spending the night in a privately-owned warehouse”.

According to the statement, the individuals were aware that the premises were restricted and not freely accessible to the public, recognizing that their entry with the intention of staying there constituted a criminal offense.

Following investigations and identification of the legitimate owner of the warehouses, who promptly dispatched a representative to the site with documentation verifying ownership, a formal criminal complaint was filed against the suspects. This led to a “large-scale operation,” facilitating their detention and immediate removal from the premises.

The detained men, aged between 21 and 39, have previous records of similar crimes. They appeared before the Public Prosecutor’s office and were released pending a future court date.
