A statement from the Coimbra PSD reported that a 33-year-old man was arrested on Saturday under a non-flagrant arrest warrant. He is suspected of committing nearly twenty residential burglaries since the beginning of the year in the city of Figueira da Foz.
“This arrest is the result of efforts by the Criminal Investigation Squad in Figueira da Foz, within the scope of a criminal investigation delegated by the judicial authority,” the statement added.
The suspect was found with approximately 2,160 euros in cash, various yellow metal objects, several pieces of jewelry, and watches, “as there are strong indications they resulted from the burglaries carried out through the methods of scaling and breaking and entering.”
Also on Saturday, the PSP detained a 61-year-old woman for allegedly stealing items from a commercial establishment in Santa Clara, Coimbra.
“The suspect left the premises with various articles valued at 546 euros without making the proper payment, eventually being intercepted outside by a security official,” the report noted.
On the same day, a 29-year-old man was arrested by the PSP for possession of a prohibited weapon (a katana) on Rua do Paço do Conde, in the downtown area of Coimbra.
“Alerted to a public disorder involving several individuals, when the PSP arrived at the scene they found the suspect holding a bladed weapon, ready to be used against others present, who fled upon noticing the police,” it was described.
Regarding road traffic offenses, the PSP made three arrests—two in Coimbra and one in Figueira da Foz—for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrestees were aged 27, 39, and 47.
The final arrest occurred in the early hours of Sunday when a 25-year-old was caught driving without a legal license.
