An arrest occurred on Monday during a traffic stop in Câmara de Lobos, a municipality west of Funchal.
During the document check of a passenger vehicle occupied by the suspects, police detected a strong odor of narcotics, according to a PSP statement. The driver refused a drug screening test and was arrested for disobedience.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and a frisk of the passenger were conducted.
The passenger was found with 595 individual doses of ‘bloom,’ four doses of cannabis, and four doses of heroin, leading to an arrest for drug trafficking. Additionally, 220 euros in cash, a precision scale, and other items related to drug trafficking were seized.
The suspects, aged 56 and 61, residing in Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava respectively, were detained and brought before judicial authorities.
The individual found in possession of the drugs was placed under a coercive measure requiring him to report his identity and residence. Meanwhile, the individual arrested for disobedience faced summary judgment the same day.
