A 19-year-old man was arrested by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) through the Amadora Police Division on July 31, at 5:00 a.m., in the parish of Mina de Água, on suspicion of possessing a prohibited weapon.
In recent weeks, as stated in a PSP announcement sent to newsrooms on Sunday, residents in an area of the parish have had their rest disrupted by a group of individuals making noise during resting hours, with the group consistently evading police interventions.
However, on the aforesaid day, following a new noise complaint, the police carried out a tactical incursion, encountering a group of individuals consuming alcoholic beverages and causing noise, thus disturbing the citizens’ rest.
Surprised by the intervention, the group attempted to flee but was intercepted by the police at the entrance of residential units, as further reported.
During the chase, the PSP observed the suspect throwing an object onto the public road, leading to an approach by the officers who discovered that the discarded object was a firearm with a 6.35mm caliber.
The young man was arrested and, after procedural measures, was notified to appear before the competent judicial authority for coercive measures application.
