PSP catches two illegal immigrants after supermarket robbery in Lisbon

Two men, aged 26 and 33, were arrested at the Sete Rios train station in Lisbon for residing illegally in Portugal, as revealed by the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement released on Monday.

According to authorities, the foreign nationals were detained on August 20 and 21 after the PSP was called to a supermarket at the station on suspicion of theft.

In addition to the “procedures inherent to the alleged crimes,” the security force determined during verification that both suspects were illegally residing in the country and had already been notified to leave Portugal.

Both were arrested and brought for an initial judicial interrogation. A condition of identity and residence was imposed on both, and the 26-year-old suspect was also subjected to mandatory biweekly reports to the police station closest to his residence.
