“The diversity and proximity of demonstrations scheduled in Lisbon on April 25, set for the same time, some with parades and with distinct and opposing objectives, have prompted the PSP to conduct a new risk assessment. This involves analyzing all dynamics that could disrupt public order and tranquility, with a statement forthcoming to the competent administrative authority,” the Public Security Police (PSP) stated in a response sent to Lusa.
The PSP had initially issued a positive opinion, considering that the rally planned by far-right activists for Friday at Martim Moniz, Lisbon, posed no risk of public disorder. However, upon learning about other conflicting demonstrations scheduled for the same time and place, the PSP decided to carry out a new risk assessment, the results of which will be sent to the Lisbon city council, the police indicated.
The Left Bloc (BE) questioned the Ministry of Internal Administration on Wednesday regarding a demonstration linked to far-right movements scheduled for the 25th at Martim Moniz, accusing the PSP of “inconsistency” in its risk assessment.

The party Ergue-te and the movement Habeas Corpus announced a demonstration featuring a “roasted pig” event at Martim Moniz on Friday afternoon, supported by the far-right group 1143, led by Mário Machado.
On social media, the event is titled “Portugal descends to the caliphate” in what it describes as a nationalist celebration.
Contacted by Lusa, the Lisbon City Council stated that “as always in such cases, risk assessment and any security condition decisions for its conduct are defined by the PSP,” with security forces’ opinions forming the basis for determining the conditions for holding demonstrations in the city.
