The Public Security Police (PSP) is conducting a police operation at Largo de São Domingos near Restauradores in Lisbon, since early Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for this authority informed Notícias ao Minuto that the operation was being conducted “in all areas,” specifically targeting “drugs, weapons, foreigners, and street vending” following “several complaints from residents and passersby.”
However, the PSP refutes the initial information reported by CNN, which stated that the area was under siege due to the police operation.
“There is no siege,” assured the authority. “People’s access is not restricted,” they added, further clarifying that only those “found there with behavior suspicious of a crime were approached.”
As of now, the PSP has not disclosed any arrests or seized materials, reserving this summary for the end of the police operation.
