The Public Security Police (PSP) confirmed that all students from Guinea-Bissau, who had been stranded since Friday, September 29, at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, have been granted entry into Portugal, except one.
In a statement sent on Tuesday, September 2, the security force detailed that, following the “verification of the prerequisites established under the applicable legal regime, namely under Law No. 102/2017, of August 28, Decree No. 9/2018, of September 11, and Ordinance No. 111/2019, of April 12, it was confirmed that the citizens in question are enrolled in Portuguese higher education institutions.”
The PSP noted that this information was only accessed “after requests for reassessment.”
“In this context, and considering the verification of the requirements demanded by the prevailing legislation, the decision of entry refusal was revoked in all cases where full compliance with the applicable conditions was confirmed,” they emphasized, adding that only one Guinean student remains barred from entering the country.
“Entry into national territory was authorized for all citizens concerned, except for one specific case, where the necessary legal prerequisites were not met,” they clarified.
In the same note, the PSP “underlines that all decisions made strictly respect the Schengen Border Code, ensuring simultaneously the protection of citizens’ rights, freedoms, and guarantees and the security of the national territory.”
