“With the cooperation of stadium security staff, the PSP has arrested a fan for flagrantly disobeying an ancillary sanction banning access to sports venues, a measure imposed by the Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sport (APCVD),” authorities reported.
The offender had been prohibited from attending sports venues following the use of pyrotechnic devices during a match between Estrela da Amadora and Marítimo in June 2023, held in Amadora.
By ignoring the ban, the individual faces a sentence of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 120 days, according to the crime of disobedience legislated in Article 348 of the Penal Code.
Authorities noted that since the beginning of the season, a total of 23 fans have been intercepted for violating bans on accessing sports venues.
“These arrests reflect the continuous commitment of the authorities, particularly the PSP and APCVD, to enforce prohibition measures, ensuring a safe, protected, and welcoming environment at sports events,” the police emphasized.
