An incident involving fireworks launched at police officers led to the intervention of the PSP’s Special Police Unit. Rubber bullets were used to control the situation, according to a PSP statement that did not specify the location of the event.
In Braga, authorities recorded two reports concerning the use of pyrotechnic articles and one report for physical assault.
In Lisbon, the PSP issued three reports for the use of pyrotechnic articles and recorded seven instances of individuals prevented from accessing a sports venue due to excessive blood alcohol levels. The recorded levels ranged from 1.20 g/l to 2.43 g/l.
The authorities noted three reports of inappropriate behavior and two reports of damage.
The PSP expressed gratitude for the “cooperation of the majority of Sporting supporters, as well as other football fans, for their civic behavior.”
The PSP’s operational deployment in Braga, and especially in Lisbon, included “multiple areas” and “hundreds of officers with specialized resources from the Special Police Unit, namely the Intervention Corps and the Canine Operational Group, rapid intervention teams, rapid response and prevention teams, traffic units, crime prevention and investigation units, officers on foot patrol, and spotters from the Metropolitan Sports Information Unit,” the PSP stated.
