A man’s mobile phone was stolen from inside a vehicle parked near the Castle of Santa Maria da Feira at around 9:30 am on Monday.
According to a Facebook post by the Public Security Police (PSP) of the Aveiro District Command, the electronic device was recovered hours after the theft.
“To commit the theft, the right-side windows of the vehicle were broken to gain access to two backpacks located in the back seat,” the post read.
The PSP reported that “after investigative efforts,” they were able to “recover the mobile phone, which was found abandoned by the roadside in Ovar,” and it was subsequently “returned to the rightful owner.”
“The investigation is ongoing at the Santa Maria da Feira Police Station,” it added.
