The Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) seized over 40 kilograms of cocaine during an automotive crime prevention and enforcement operation in the Porto Metropolitan Area on Wednesday.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday, the authority detailed that multiple police operations were conducted “with a focus on the municipalities of Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Valongo, and Matosinhos.”
During these operations, 40.240 kilograms of cocaine, three vehicles, two mobile phones, two laptops, and a high-value portable X-ray device for medical use were seized, along with several automotive components suspected to have an illicit origin.
A total of 28 individuals were identified, and the PSP, with the Animal Protection Brigade, also issued four infraction notices for environmental violations.
The police operation was supported by the Criminal Investigation Division, the Specialized Police Unit in Porto, Rapid Intervention Teams, Forensic Technical Police Unit, and Environmental Protection Brigades.
