The Public Security Police (PSP) seized 450 pairs of counterfeit sneakers on Tuesday as part of an operation targeting the sale of counterfeit goods.
The operation, which involved collaboration between the Sintra Police Division, the Amadora Police Division, and the 5th Police Division, took place at a commercial establishment located in the union of the Agualva and Mira-Sintra parishes.
In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP explained that the inspection focused on combatting the trade of counterfeit goods, particularly in the sports footwear sector. The seized pairs falsely displayed characteristics of various brands.
The operation included collaboration from representatives and experts from the mentioned brands, who confirmed the counterfeit nature of the items and provided technical support during the police action.
Simultaneously, “in close operational coordination,” two additional interventions took place in the municipalities of Amadora and Lisbon, resulting in the confiscation of 138 additional pairs of counterfeit sneakers.
According to the PSP, these actions are “part of the ongoing effort” by this security force “to combat economic crime and the violation of industrial property rights, also aiming to protect consumers from products of dubious quality, often harmful to health.”
