The Madeira Regional Command announced that a significant drug bust occurred on Saturday during the disembarkation of the Lobo Marinho vessel at Porto Santo. This event marks the largest seizure of synthetic drugs recorded on the island by PSP, with the market value of the drugs estimated at around 40,000 euros.
Authorities intercepted “two women associated with drug trafficking.” One of the women, aged 30, originally from and residing in Madeira, was found in possession of 1,938 individual doses of a synthetic drug known as ‘Bloom’ and 160 doses of another called ‘Gorby Mix’.
“The women have been named as defendants and subjected to Terms of Identity and Residence, pending laboratory analysis to confirm the nature of the drugs,” the report states.
The PSP indicated that an inquiry process will proceed under the guidance of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. “If the suspicions of drug trafficking are confirmed, they will be brought to trial.”
“This operation initiates the series of inspections that PSP will conduct during the summer season at the Lobo Marinho vessel disembarkation zone, based on continual police information exchanges regarding citizen movement between islands,” concludes the police statement.
