Several officers of the Public Security Police (PSP) were pelted with stones on Thursday night, December 11, in the Cova da Moura neighborhood, Amadora, as disclosed by police sources.
The incident occurred around 9:15 PM when a vehicle ignored a PSP stop order.
Following a pursuit, the two men in the car abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the neighborhood.
As officers searched for the duo, a group of individuals “dressed in black” began throwing stones at them.
An official PSP source confirmed that “additional police reinforcements were necessary to restore order” and several shotgun rounds were fired to disperse the attackers.
Inside the abandoned vehicle, the PSP found alarm-tagged clothing, indicating theft, and a mobile phone. The car was subsequently taken to the 61st Police Station.
The PSP also reported that there were no injuries or damages recorded.
