According to the indictment dated Wednesday, the defendant, a 27-year-old woman, surprised her father from behind on May 27 while he was seated on the living room sofa, attacking him multiple times with a knife featuring a 17-centimeter blade.
“Death was averted only due to the man’s immediate and successful reaction, which enabled him to immobilize the defendant and call for help,” the document states.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office noted that “the defendant, who resides with the victim, was intoxicated at the time of the incident and exhibits a dysfunctional personality characterized by alcohol and drug dependency.”
The following day after the alleged crime, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ), in a statement, reported that the attack occurred following a disagreement with her father, spurred by his attempt to control his daughter’s behavior related to “alcohol consumption.”
According to the indictment, the defendant will await trial in a health facility under electronic surveillance, subject to a stay-in requirement.
