On Friday, in a post on the Instagram page of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), the organization announced that it had contacted the platform to remove the game and “filed a report with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the commercialization of content that potentially constitutes hate speech against women, promotes sexual violence, and incites the practice of sexual crimes”.
The CIG expressed gratitude to all individuals and institutions “who mobilized yesterday [Thursday] to report the availability and commercialization in the national territory of the video game titled ‘No Mercy,’ which promotes sexual violence against women“.
“Thanks to the outrage expressed by numerous women and men on social media and the actions of all who accessed the Steam platform to report the hateful content in the game, it has been removed and is no longer available in Portugal,” the CIG stated.

The U.S. National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) called for the global removal of the video game No Mercy on Wednesday, citing “disturbing” content.
By Thursday, the game was available on the Portuguese platform for 11.79 euros.
NCOSE urged Steam to remove it from the platform, warning that it “promotes explicit sexual violence, incest, blackmail, and male domination, explicitly encouraging players to engage in non-consensual acts and misogynistic behavior”.
Although Zerat Games removed the video game from Steam, one of the largest digital video game stores, it continues to sell the title on other platforms.
