A 42-year-old man was arrested on November 30 after punching a Public Security Police (PSP) officer who asked him to stop disturbing passersby at the Gare do Oriente in Lisbon.
“Following a police intervention aimed at halting the behavior, and without any prior indication, [the suspect] delivered a punch to the face of one of the officers, striking him near the right eye,” authorities detailed in a statement sent to newsrooms this Sunday.
The man appeared before the competent Judicial Court for the application of procedural measures for the crime of resistance and coercion against an official.
This action was taken by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, through the Public Transport Security Division, which further reinforced “its commitment to maintaining public order, ensuring a permanent and preventive presence in the railway and Lisbon Metro networks,” in order to “protect citizens and ensure the tranquility of passengers.”

A man was arrested on December 2 after breaking into a commercial establishment to steal several volumes of tobacco, as well as 550 euros in cash, in the parish of Belém, Lisbon. The suspect already had “an extensive criminal history.”
