A 32-year-old Russian citizen has gone missing in Lisbon, last seen on Monday, September 15. Mikhail Gordeev, a professional designer, reportedly stopped responding to contacts from his husband and friends, with whom he had an appointment. The homicide section of the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) is investigating, considering scenarios of kidnapping or death.

The individual, reportedly a critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, resides in Portugal’s capital with his husband, with both of their statuses regularized. Mikhail Gordeev was last seen heading to a meeting with friends in the Marquês de Pombal area at around 6:30 PM. According to the Association of Free Russians, he may have entered a car.

Not only did the designer not show up to the scheduled meeting, but he also did not answer any contact attempts from friends and his partner, who reported his disappearance to the PJ headquarters on Tuesday. The Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) has handed over the case to the homicide section, which has not ruled out any possibilities.

It was reported that those closest to him detected his phone signal twice. Mikhail is believed to have used his phone in Mafra, Loures, and around the Saldanha area in Lisbon. There, friends found belongings of the Russian, including a pair of iPhone earbuds.

The young man and his partner had reportedly assisted numerous compatriots with their legalization processes in Portugal. Additionally, despite not showing interest in politics in his homeland, he opposed Vladimir Putin’s regime.

The family has been informed of the disappearance.

Notícias ao Minuto has contacted both the MP and the PJ, awaiting more information.
