Raimundo challenges Montenegro to reveal “negative things” about the OE2026.

During a public engagement in Moscavide, Loures, Paulo Raimundo emphasized his reluctance to comment on isolated measures from the State Budget. This follows an announcement by the Prime Minister this morning regarding a 40 euro increase in the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (CSI).

The PCP leader criticized the Prime Minister for stating that the State Budget discussion would occur post-elections, yet occasionally making isolated announcements.

“My question is: When will he disclose the negative, very negative aspects of the Budget? Perhaps only after the elections,” he remarked sarcastically.

Regarding comments by Pedro Passos Coelho, earlier today, about the need to work “together, regardless of who is elected,” with “red lines” only for “very specific, special, and serious issues,” Paulo Raimundo suggested that the former Prime Minister would need to clarify his statements.

“Passos Coelho is the one who should explain what he meant. I won’t entertain Passos Coelho’s dreams, nor that party [Chega] with which he wants to form a coalition,” he replied.

When asked if he is concerned about this potential coalition, Paulo Raimundo expressed that his concerns lie with “the lack of housing, transportation, nurseries for thousands of parents” and “people not having access to the National Health Service.”

“That’s what concerns me. The rest… Some people live in a bubble, wanting to concern themselves with grand issues that have nothing to do with people’s real-life concerns,” he stated.

Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced today that the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly will increase by 40 euros next year, reaching 670 euros, a measure to be included in the 2026 Budget.

Luís Montenegro, the PSD president, made this announcement during a campaign event for the upcoming municipal elections in Évora.

The Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly, as reported earlier, is a monthly cash benefit for elderly and disabled pensioners with low incomes who do not receive the social benefit for people with disabilities.
