Raimundo does not consider the vote counting in Lisbon to be closed.

“The general count is complete, but I’m not sure if the process is finalized. We’re evaluating both the numbers and the reports now,” said the communist leader in remarks to journalists following a rally.

When questioned about his uncertainty regarding the completion of the process, Paulo Raimundo stated that the party is currently analyzing the situation, noting that the announcement was made today and emphasizes that it’s not just about numbers but also considerations regarding those numbers.

“We’re exploring all possibilities, and depending on our findings, the process might not conclude today.”

Chega obtained 26,755 votes in Lisbon, three more than CDU, securing a second councilor.

Paulo Raimundo reflected on the circumstances under which CDU competed in Lisbon, highlighting an increase in votes: “We gained 1,780 more votes compared to the last elections. We should have gained at least 1,800, which would have resolved the issue.”

“We’ll see what this leads to,” continued the communist secretary-general.

During his speech, which lasted nearly half an hour, Paulo Raimundo asserted PCP as the “only instrument of resistance and youth advocacy against the emerging onslaught,” referring to the labor package the government is preparing. A national march against this package is scheduled for November 8.

He also addressed the European Union, reminding them that Portugal is a “sovereign country” and will not accept being told “how to manage Social Security,” stressing that the income comes from the labor of the people.
