Raimundo speaks of a campaign full of strength, that “the flags don’t walk alone”

The campaign rally, which commenced at Batalha and concluded on Santa Catarina Street, attracted thousands of supporters and members today. The event was notably more chaotic and boisterous than the march in Chiado, Lisbon, on Thursday.

After distributing carnations, kisses, and hugs while receiving supportive words in return, Paulo Raimundo addressed the audience at the end of the rally, exclaiming, “What great strength is this! What an emotional strength is this!”

Amidst the numerous flags being waved, Paulo Raimundo declared that in the CDU campaign, “the flags do not wave alone.”

“There stands a man, a woman, a fighter, a worker, a cultural agent holding each flag. Each one waves their banner,” stated the communist leader, with a clenched fist, as he addressed the crowd.

For Paulo Raimundo, given the strength observed throughout the campaign, “the CDU must grow, the CDU will grow,” urging that this strength be present “for whatever comes” on the day following Sunday’s legislative elections.

In a district where he aims to increase the number of deputies (presently holding one seat), the PCP secretary-general recalled the words of architect Siza Vieira, who supports the coalition and asserted: “CDU as always, but now more than ever.”

Speaking to journalists, the communist leader remarked, “the results are evident to everyone,” highlighting a sense of strength, happiness, and confidence to “resolve people’s lives.”

“This was the atmosphere throughout the campaign, and now in the final stretch, there is even more strength. It gives us a lot of confidence,” he stated.

On discussions related to forming alliances with other leftist parties, Paulo Raimundo chose to dismiss them, emphasizing that the CDU’s focus is on strengthening its parliamentary representation to address “people’s life problems.”

“Everything else is just the exchange of pleasantries that currently holds no importance to anyone,” he concluded.
