Rain has come (indeed) to stay. Here is what to expect in the coming days.

The rain is here to stay. On Friday, October 24, “very cloudy skies” and “periods of rain or showers in the North and Central regions” are expected to continue through the weekend, as forecasted by the National Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

Throughout Friday, “precipitation in the North and Central regions” is anticipated along with “mist or fog in the Southern region.” According to the IPMA, the forecast calls for “very cloudy skies, becoming less cloudy in the interior of Baixo Alentejo and Algarve from late morning” and “periods of rain or showers in the North and Central regions.”

Regarding temperatures, a “slight rise” in maximum temperatures is expected in the Northern region.

Faro and Santarém districts are forecast to record the highest maximum temperature at 26°C. This is followed by Beja, Évora, and Castelo Branco with 25°C.

The lowest minimum temperatures will be recorded in Bragança (8°C), and in Guarda and Vila Real (11°C).

In Greater Lisbon, expect “generally very cloudy skies,” with “periods of rain especially until mid-afternoon.” In Greater Porto, the forecast also calls for “generally very cloudy skies,” with “periods of rain, particularly from late afternoon.”

In the Azores archipelago, there will be “periods of very cloudy skies with clear intervals” in the Western, Central, and Eastern groups. Madeira will experience a similar trend to the rest of the country with “periods of very cloudy skies” and a “possibility of light precipitation.”

On Saturday, for mainland Portugal, “very cloudy or overcast skies with sometimes heavy and persistent precipitation” are expected, mainly in the Central region, along with a “slight drop in maximum temperatures in the North and Central regions.”

The districts of Porto, Aveiro, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Lisbon, Santarém, and Portalegre will be under a yellow warning due to precipitation, with temperatures ranging from a high of 27°C in Beja to a low of 11°C in Bragança.

In the Azores archipelago, “periods of very cloudy skies with clear intervals” are anticipated in the Western, Central, and Eastern groups, while Madeira will have “periods of very cloudy skies” with a “possibility of light precipitation.”

For Sunday, the current forecast for mainland Portugal indicates “generally very cloudy skies” with “periods of rain or showers, most likely until the end of the morning.”

In the Azores, similar to Saturday, “periods of very cloudy skies with clear intervals” are expected in the Western, Central, and Eastern groups.

Madeira, on the other hand, will have “generally very cloudy skies, clearing from late morning” and “periods of rain or showers, more likely until the end of the morning.”
