Heavy rainfall in Odivelas led to the suspension of service on the Yellow Line of the Lisbon Metro across several stations.
The initial announcement from Metropolitano de Lisboa was made at 15:38 via social media, citing a line interruption due to an “external cause” unrelated to the company. Service was expected to resume normal operations by 16:39, approximately an hour later.
However, shortly after 17:00, service was again suspended between the Lumiar and Odivelas stations. As of 18:45, there still remained an interruption between the Senhor Roubado and Rato stations.
The Volunteer Firefighters of Odivelas confirmed that the issue was due to flooding caused by the heavy rainfall experienced in the area.
Firefighters, in collaboration with Lisbon Metro staff, have been working to resolve the issue.
In total, due to today’s rainfall, the Odivelas Firefighters recorded 34 incidents.
