
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a weather warning valid until 6:00 PM on Saturday for eleven districts.
According to the IPMA’s statement, the warning is currently in effect for Porto, Leiria, Aveiro, and Coimbra.
For the districts of Viana do Castelo and Braga, the alert will begin at midnight on Saturday, while in Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, and Castelo Branco, it will start at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
The IPMA’s forecast for Saturday indicates “showers, particularly in the North and Center, that could be locally intense and accompanied by thunderstorms in the North region.”
The forecast also mentions the “possibility of snowfall at the highest points of Serra da Estrela until the end of the morning.”
Additionally, there is a “possibility of showers occurring in the Southern region.”
The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on meteorological conditions.
