
At an event at the PSD Summer University titled “A World with More Radicalisms?”, Paulo Rangel issued a critique without directly naming Chega party leader.
“When we see some videos that are almost caricatures of standing by firefighters during fires, this is an outrage to the firefighters and the people who experienced the fires; it’s not heroism,” he stated.
The former MEP remarked that if such actions were taken by a politician from PSD or PS, they would be heavily criticized by the media.
“But, among commentators, few criticize this; if it were a traditional politician, they would be completely dismantled. We need to have the courage to speak up and denounce this; we cannot fear radicals. If we are afraid, we are playing the game they want us to play,” he criticized.
