The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over Iran’s attacks on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq, as stated through its official account on X.
The statement further added that “new destabilizing factors in the region must be avoided.”
Meanwhile, a U.S. military official declared that no American bases in Iraq were targeted, but an Iranian missile with a malfunction aimed at Israel triggered an alert in Iraq earlier in the day.
U.S. President Donald Trump thanked Iran for warning of the “very weak” attack in advance, which, according to him, caused no American casualties.
“Iran officially responded to our destruction of their nuclear facilities with a very weak response, which we expected and handled very effectively,” Trump stated on the social media platform Truth.
The Al-Udeid base in Qatar, located near Doha, houses approximately 10,000 soldiers and other personnel who were evacuated prior to the attack.
The war between Israel and Iran was sparked in mid-June by Israeli bombings on Iranian territory, prompting retaliation from Tehran.
The conflict, which has resulted in hundreds of casualties on both sides, escalated with U.S. bombings of several Iranian nuclear facilities, including the Fordo complex.
Fordo, capable of enriching uranium to 60%, is situated about 100 kilometers south of Tehran, whose metropolitan area has a population of 14 million people.
