The leader of Chega, André Ventura, asserts that polls showing his party at 14% in the upcoming snap legislative elections are unreasonable, suggesting they reflect an attempt by some to undermine the party’s achievements against expectations since March last year.
“Now it’s even more glaring. The broader polls place Chega at 18% or 20%, while others show 13% or 14%. This doesn’t make sense,” argued André Ventura.
Addressing the specific case of Pitagórica’s polls, Ventura accused the Social Democratic Party (PSD) of influencing the results.
“In the case of Pitagórica, we know there is a clear connection with the PSD, which is common knowledge. In fact, I suspect that Pitagórica receives more money from the PSD than from the companies for whom it conducts polls and from the media,” stated the Chega leader.
However, Ventura assured that the party does not disregard the polls and will take responsibility regardless of the outcome.
“I will be here to take responsibility for whatever happens on May 18, whether good or bad. One hallmark I value as a leader is not shirking responsibilities, whether they are about cases, polls, or results,” he added.
