The fire began on Saturday, the 2nd, in Sirarelhos and was declared under control on Wednesday. It was later considered concluded but reactivated Saturday night around 9:00 PM.
On Sunday afternoon, flames descended from the Alvão mountain range, threatening the villages of Muas, Relva, Borbela, Agarez, and the town of Lordelo.
Due to the severity of the fire, the Mayor of Vila Real, Alexandre Favaios, requested additional resources for firefighting on Sunday night.

The Mayor of Vila Real remarked today that the personnel currently battling the fire in the municipality are insufficient and called on the Government for additional support to address the calamity.
According to the ANEPC, the fire was classified as under control at 4:24 AM, and by 6:30 AM, 357 personnel supported by 119 vehicles were still engaged in the effort.
The Alvão mountain range spans Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Ribeira de Pena, Vila Real, and Mondim de Basto. Over the past week, all four municipalities have been affected by three separate fires (Sirarelhos, Pinduradouro, and Alvadia), resulting in a burned area totaling over 4,000 hectares.
