The national airport network operator reports that the launch of 35 new routes has increased passenger numbers to 69.2 million, representing a 4% rise from 2023 and a 17% surge compared to pre-pandemic figures in 2019.

Over the past year, ANA paid 15 million euros to the government under the revenue-sharing mechanism outlined in its concession contract.

Infrastructure investment has exceeded 100 million euros, with significant increases at the Azores airports (+125%), Porto (64%), and Faro (+62%).

Key ongoing projects include the new South Pier and the renovation of the Central Pier at Lisbon’s Terminal 1, with a total investment of approximately 250 million euros, along with the runway refurbishment at Porto Airport, with a forecasted 53 million euros and 6.2 million euros already spent.

Additionally, terminals in Ponta Delgada and Horta are being rehabilitated, totaling 17 million euros. Roof work at Faro Airport will see 4.4 million euros applied in 2024, from a total planned budget of 17 million euros.

The construction of a new terminal at Porto Santo, with an estimated investment of 40 million euros, and the renovation of Lisbon’s Terminal 2, with 12 million euros planned and 4.7 million already spent in 2024, are also underway.

According to ANA CEO Thierry Ligonnière, these outcomes “reflect rigorous management and a sustainable business model capable of generating value for the state.”

ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal holds the national airport network concession under a 50-year contract signed in December 2012 with the Portuguese government.

The company is fully owned by VINCI Airports, the French group that leads globally in managing transportation infrastructure, with a presence in over 70 airports across 13 countries.
