According to an announcement by the Montijo City Council following the general results assembly, Chega emerged as the most voted party for the Municipal Assembly with 6,046 votes and six seats awarded. The MVC followed with 6,002 votes and five seats, previously having six.
The PSD/IL coalition secured 4,023 votes and four seats in the Municipal Assembly, while the PS garnered 4,015 votes and also four seats, an increase from three. The CDU received 1,799 votes and one seat, and Livre obtained 1,031 votes and one seat.
In the Pegões Parish Council, where the MVC had previously won by a margin of just ten votes over Chega, no changes were observed. The initial results were confirmed with MVC receiving 495 votes and Chega 485 votes.
The vote recount for the Montijo City Council led to slight changes in the vote counts across various political forces. However, these did not alter the relative standings or the number of seats allocated.
The results, confirmed at the Town Hall building under the supervision of a Montijo Court judge, affirmed the MVC’s victory and the election of former socialist Fernando Caria as president of the municipality, with a total of 6,440 votes and three seats.
Chega, with 5,825 votes and two seats, was the second most voted political force for the Montijo City Council, followed by PS with 4,049 votes and one seat, and the PSD/IL coalition with 3,917 votes and one seat in the Setúbal district municipality.
Out of 45,488 registered voters in Montijo, only 23,479 exercised their right to vote in the municipal elections, resulting in an abstention rate of 48.38%.
Nuno Valente, the lead candidate for Chega in the Montijo City Council elections, postponed commenting on the results pending a vote recount request initiated by André Ventura’s party.
