The districts of Bragança, Castelo Branco and Guarda are under red warning, the most serious, because of the heat, according to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The red warning is active at least until 23:00 today in Castelo Branco and Guarda, but in Bragança it extends until the end of the day on Wednesday.
The persistence of high values of the maximum temperature, the IPMA also placed under orange warning (the second most serious) until the end of today the districts of Vila Real, Viseu, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Portalegre and Évora.
These warnings turn yellow from 23:00 today and at least until the end of Wednesday in Vila Real, Viseu, Santarém, Portalegre and Évora.
Already in Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Lisbon and Setúbal is active until the end of today the yellow warning (the third most serious) and Beja this warning extends until 23:00 Wednesday.
Of the 18 districts of mainland Portugal, Faro is the only one that will not be in the coming days under any kind of warning, according to IPMA.
For today, IPMA predicts the continuation of hot weather, with a small rise in temperature in the northeast of Trás-os-Montes and a drop in the maximum temperature on the coast, which will be accentuated in some places on the Central coast.
As for temperatures, the minimum will vary between 17º Celsius (Bragança) and 24ºC (Beja) and the maximum between 28ºC (Sagres) and 41ºC (Castelo Branco).
