According to Luís Garcia, with RTP/Açores “distances have been shortened and bonds strengthened in an archipelago where the sea has shaped centuries of stories, bravery, and discoveries.”
“Celebrating the 50 years of RTP-Açores is to celebrate the autonomous journey that has led us to where we are today, and to achievements longed for by many who preceded us,” stated the president of the regional parliament.
For Luís Garcia, “like autonomy,” RTP-Açores is hoped “to always be new and always renewed, continuing to be, as it has been, a pillar of autonomy, a factor of regional unity, and a bridge between all Azoreans.”
The president of the Azores parliament highlighted the importance of the public television presence in the region, especially in an era witnessing the spread of fake news, leading to misinformation and confusion.
“We need credible and close communication, impartial and informative,” he said.
