The government announced on Monday the extension of the regulated electricity tariff until December 31, 2027, a measure aimed at “protecting consumers,” according to officials.
“This decision ensures that about 800,000 consumers, many of whom are economically vulnerable, continue to benefit from annually fixed prices by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE),” the government stated in a social media post.
The government noted that the “previous deadline foresaw the end of the regulated market in 2025” and “with this measure, the deadline is extended by two more years.”
“The goal is to protect consumers, ensure price predictability, and promote a fair energy transition,” the statement read.
