The regulatory body announced that the establishment had previously been subject to action by the ERS due to the practice of dental medicine by an unqualified professional.
In this latest intervention, the ERS also noted a “serious violation” of legal, regulatory, and normative requirements regarding the reprocessing of multiple-use medical devices, as well as hygiene, safety, and public health safeguards.
This situation did not ensure the “principle of human and environmental health,” showing a “clear disregard for basic infection control precautions, posing a risk to the health and safety of patients and professionals.”
“Given these facts, the ERS has implemented a precautionary measure to immediately suspend the establishment’s activities,” the statement details, adding that the suspension “will only be lifted once the danger to the health and safety of the users is eliminated.”
The facts have been communicated to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Order of Dentists, and the Order of Doctors.
This inspection was part of an ERS initiative that included several healthcare facilities in the Figueira da Foz municipality.
