“We must quickly be informed about the real connection between the prime minister and these companies because it is not normal for million-dollar contracts to be awarded to people with whom we have the closest ties. This raises the greatest suspicions, especially about those who have to manage the distribution of money,” said André Ventura, affirming that “this is the symbol of corruption and promiscuity.”
The president of Chega was speaking to journalists in Nazaré, in the Leiria district, reacting to Wednesday’s news from Expresso that the prime minister submitted a new declaration to the Transparency Entity, mentioning more companies with which Spinumviva worked. This was done on the eve of the televised debate with the PS secretary-general, Pedro Nuno Santos.
Today, Correio da Manhã and CNN Portugal reported that two of these companies, which already had relationships with the state, secured contracts worth millions of euros during the government led by Luís Montenegro.
For André Ventura, “this is of utmost seriousness,” considering that these entities “significantly increased their relationship with the state in some cases when Luís Montenegro was already prime minister.”
“We have a prime minister who owns a company—the company is his—that is receiving money from certain companies, which in turn are receiving money from the state. This raises the greatest suspicions, the greatest idea of promiscuity and collusion,” he emphasized, stating that “the country is already tired.”
The president of Chega stated that the prime minister was being paid, while also being a businessman who earned “much more money than as prime minister, and these companies were apparently benefiting from that.”
André Ventura further remarked that “this is extremely serious and is reaching another level that is not just the political level.”
